What young adult book have you read recently?
The Frankfurt Book Fair continues through this weekend. Part of the fair is dedicated to Young Adult Fiction—an evolving genre that seems to be putting more and more emphasis on the ‘adult’ in young adult books.
Take the novel The Fault in Our Stars. John Green’s book about two terminally ill teenagers falling in love at a cancer support group may not sound like the ideal plotline for teenyboppers, but readers aged 14 to 18 have vaulted Green’s novel to the top of bestseller lists.
Books about dystopian dramas are also on the rise. Magical Harry Potter moved over to make way for the grim vision of The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. The Hunger Games books sold more than 50 million copies by the time the film was released.
The popularity of these novels is not just due to teenagers’ interest. Lots of adults are buying the books too.
Have you read any young adult books recently? Let us know.
Even if you’re not a teenager anymore, we won’t judge.
